My Mission
I’ve seen first-hand how life can transform when you begin to prioritise your wellbeing.
My mission is to show you that you can break free from ill health, unhelpful habits, and the belief that you just have to “put up with it.”

Most of us don’t realise how much influence we actually have over our own health. In a world that profits from our exhaustion and compliance, it’s easy to feel powerless — like we’re at the mercy of a system that was never designed with our wellbeing in mind.
Here’s the truth: you are not broken. The system is.

Health is not about perfection, restriction, or shrinking yourself down to fit.
Health is a rebellion.
It’s something you build, moment by moment, through the small, radical choices
you make each day.
When you reclaim those choices, you reclaim your power. You step out of survival mode and into a life that feels energised, grounded, and fully alive.
Kali Health Coaching is named after Kali, the Hindu goddess of transformation. She is the ultimate rebel: fierce, unapologetic, and unstoppable — a destroyer of what no longer serves us and a creator of new beginnings.
To me, she’s a reminder of the rebellion we all carry inside us: the courage to let go of old patterns, the fire to defy a culture that keeps us stuck, and the freedom to step boldly into the life we were meant to live.

Like Kali, we don’t have to shrink ourselves to fit into boxes. We get to rise up, rebel against the norms that keep us unwell, and choose to be whole, powerful, and unapologetically ourselves.
My Story
“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
– Anaïs Nin
From a young age, I developed self-destructive habits to help me cope. I ate exclusively junk food, I smoked, I binge drank... I spent years chasing ‘fun’ while quietly disconnecting from myself. As my health declined and my weight increased, I felt worse and worse — physically, mentally, and emotionally. I knew I needed to change, but I didn’t believe I could. I felt stuck, ashamed, and exhausted.

I was doing what so many of us do — surviving inside a system that teaches us to numb, consume, and keep going at all costs.
"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
– Lao Tzu
The turning point came when my husband began experiencing strange and frightening symptoms. After much research, we discovered he was living with generalised anxiety disorder. I made it my mission to support him - I studied Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and guided him through exercises and worksheets. Together, we began to practise mindfulness and focus on healthier habits.

That experience lit a spark in me. Seeing how small changes could shift not only his mental health, but his entire outlook, was transformative. He decided to quit smoking — and though I had wanted to for years, I never felt ‘ready’. But something shifted. I realised I was more afraid of being trapped in addiction forever than I was of cravings, and so, I quit too. For him, yes — but also, finally, for myself.

And I succeeded.
Quitting smoking taught me something that changed my life:
I was stronger than I believed.
I could change. I could choose.
And choosing, I realised, is an act of rebellion.
"It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society."
– Jiddu Krishnamurti
That was just the beginning. I became fascinated with wellbeing and the deep connection between mind, body, and behaviour.

Because the more I learned, the more I realised that our 'bad habits' aren’t really choices. They’re coping mechanisms. Survival strategies. Momentary escapes. We’re all just trying to get through the day in a world that, more often than not, is working against us.

-
The news drip-feeds fear and division into our subconscious.
-
Social media hijacks our attention and fuels comparison.
-
Marketing preys on our insecurities and desires.
-
Healthy food is priced out of reach, while processed food is cheap, addictive, and empty of nourishment.
-
Workplaces demand productivity at all costs, using insecurity and competition to keep us in line.
-
And the patterns we absorbed in childhood — from parents, teachers, and social norms — quietly script our self-destructive behaviours.

Is it any wonder we’re exhausted? That we reach for quick fixes, numbing scrolls, or another glass of wine?
I realised if we want to be healthy and happy, we have to rebel. We must see our lives, and our world, clearly. We must call out the unhealthy influences. If we want to fly, we must be willing to let go of what weighs us down.
"It is never too late to be who you might have been."
– George Eliot
So over the last ten years, I’ve thrown myself into learning everything I could — not just to support myself and my family, but to help others reclaim their power too.

I’ve studied, trained, and grown in every area of health and healing that called to me:
-
I trained in Mindfulness and Meditation, learning how to guide others in self-awareness, breaking negative patterns, and finding motivation for change.
-
I studied CBT and crisis support, helping people in mental health crisis through confidential, text-based counselling.
-
I trained to teach Yoga and movement, exploring how mindful exercise supports both emotional and physical healing.
-
I studied Nutrition, Biology, and Physiology, gaining a deep understanding of how food affects the mind and body.
-
The art of living with creativity, joy, and slowness — radical in a culture that worships speed and productivity.

Along the way I've achieved qualifications:
-
Level 5 Health Coach Diploma – College of Naturopathic Medicine
-
Level 3 Healthy Eating & Wellbeing Certificate – Association for Nutrition
-
200hr Yoga & Meditation Teacher Training – Registered with Yoga Alliance
-
NCFE Certificate in Understanding Mental Health

But most importantly, I've lived it:
-
I’ve lost over 30kg
-
I’ve quit smoking
-
I’ve completely changed how I eat, move, think, and feel.
-
I’ve healed from back pain, sciatica, digestive issues, poor immunity, and hormonal imbalance.
-
I’ve navigated my own mental health challenges — and learned to show up with compassion and courage, even when it was hard.
-
I’ve helped others do the same.
My life - and my health - look completely different now. I'm happier and more grounded than I've ever been. And my husband? He's doing pretty great too. We’ve done it one rebellious step at a time.
And you can too.

Because health isn’t about perfection, or shrinking yourself to fit.
Health is a rebellion.
It’s choosing, again and again, to rise above a world that profits from your exhaustion.
It’s building strength and balance in small, radical acts of self-care.
It’s saying: I refuse to settle for survival when I was made for more.
"May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears."
– Nelson Mandella
Health and happiness aren't things you find 'out there'. You can’t find them in a promotion, or a new house, or admiration from others. The things that bring you fleeting joy can’t give you lasting fulfilment - have you noticed? They always leave you wanting more.

True health and happiness are grown from within — with daily care, intention, and love. They're verbs, not nouns. You find them by connecting with the person you wish to be, living your values, and honouring your body, mind and spirit.

That’s what rebellion really is — living in alignment with your truth, not the system’s demands.
And every small step you take today can bring you closer to the life you want tomorrow.
I hope you get there one day.
And I’d love to walk beside you on the journey.
With love and rebellion,
Debbie
